Book Two Existing-Material Audit: 13-Chapter Assembly

Status And Authority

This is a reuse audit, not an approved book blueprint. It follows the current working decisions:

• Book Two contains thirteen chapters.
• Dungeon activity remains in the background unless an on-page dungeon event is indispensable.
• The one-million-crown windfall, estate move, Cerys's freedom and romance, and Sabine's rescue belong in Book Two.
• Mainline owns Sabine's rescue, release, alternatives, chosen return, and paid role.
• The separate Sabine/Corin novel owns their private game and relationship progression after those prerequisites.
• The approved two-chapter pilot controls only Chapters 1 and 2.

Author decisions recorded after the audit:

• Sabine voluntarily chooses Cerys's room and transport after the emergency purchase. An independent room remains available, but she prefers to accept Cerys's personal hospitality rather than feel indebted to Corin or the household, and she privately likes sharing Cerys's bed.
• Corin gives all four women 50,000 crowns; the allocations are accomplished gifts, not merely proposals.
• Cerys's compensation is 500 crowns plus a separate 100-crown allowance.
• Cerys remains at home with her family during a one-week break after release, with no work obligation.
• Cerys later asks Sabine to give life at the estate one honest week before deciding against it. Sabine may leave at any time and may stay as long as she wants; the week is a requested trial, not a limit.
• Shopping With Corin is a shared crossover scene and may appear in both Book Two and the side novel.
• Sabine and Cerys's first-night bond experiment remains in Book Two, including Sabine taking a cold bath at the ending. It serves the book's ownership, choice, and consent themes.
• The folded-route payoff remains simple, nontechnical, and nonlegal.

The old files named fortune-below-restructure-canon.md and fortune-below-series-arc.md identify themselves as planning. They are useful evidence but do not override these current decisions.

Executive Finding

Book Two is mostly an assembly and reconciliation job. Existing prose or detailed planning can source twelve of thirteen proposed chapters. The principal new work is connective revision, not wholesale generation.

Strong existing sequences cover:

• Selka's free contract and the doubled-marker records.
• The windfall, four proposed allocations, and Cerys asking whether she can remain after freedom.
• Cerys's legal release, independent walk, return, and paid-work negotiation.
• Estate inspection, purchase, move, first meal, and first communal bath.
• Cerys's first intimacy, sexual advice, first sex, and free social outing.
• Sabine's threatened sale, emergency purchase, first night, release, departure, return, employment, and bath.

The folded-route resolution has no complete prose draft. Under the background-first rule, it does not need an underground action chapter. Its mainline payoff can be a surface professional consequence: Selka's findings, map ownership, route-office conditions, changed schedules, and the household's response.

Critical Reconciliation Decisions

1. Cerys's Allocation

Corin gives all four women 50,000 crowns. This is stronger than leaving the allocations as proposals because Cerys can react to money that is already hers and immediately expose the contradiction: she has enough money to discharge the debt, but should not have to purchase freedom from the person who can forgive it. Keep account mechanics brief. The current approved Chapter 2 contract says proposes, so it must be revised before further generation.

2. Cerys's Wage

Cerys receives 500 crowns in compensation plus a separate 100-crown allowance. Preserve the distinction in the blueprint and update the estate budget consistently.

3. Freedom Before Employment And Romance

The release draft negotiates employment almost immediately. Move that negotiation until after a one-week break. Cerys does not want to leave her home, family, or feelings for Corin, and freedom should not require her to perform departure. During the week she keeps her room and belonging without duties; any cooking or household help is voluntary. At the end she may choose paid work. This is distinct from Sabine's later invitation: Cerys asks Sabine to try the estate for one week, but Sabine may leave sooner or remain as long as she wants.

4. Sabine's Journey To Safety

The completed purchase draft controls: Sabine voluntarily chooses Cerys's room and transport. Remove later claims that Cerys compelled the journey. The purchase itself remains coercive because Cerys temporarily owns the claim, but Sabine's lodging and transportation are chosen. The estate offers Sabine an independent room; she chooses Cerys's bed because accepting Cerys's personal hospitality feels less like owing Corin or the household, and because she enjoys sharing a bed with Cerys.

5. Sabine's Durable Alternatives

Twenty crowns, carriage access, and price inquiries are not enough by themselves. Before chosen return is treated as proven, Sabine should possess a credible room offer, viable employment option, transportation, her release documents, and sufficient short-term subsistence.

6. Mainline/Side-Novel Employment Boundary

Shopping With Corin is an intentional shared crossover chapter. It creates Sabine's paid provisioning role for mainline continuity and opens her private interest in Corin for the side novel. Maintain one source text and publish the same controlled revision in both books rather than creating divergent rewrites.

7. Dungeon Scope

No existing descent is required in the foreground. Use absences, returns, injuries, damaged equipment, payments, maps, and route-office decisions. If a future blueprint proposes an on-page descent, it must explain why the decisive character choice loses force when reported afterward.
